How to Cook Rice Fast

Rice is a staple food. Almost everyone can make rice to some extent, but few people ever explore its full diversity. Rice looks different and is used differently in almost every type of cuisine around the world. In America, we like to keep things simple. We usually just boil it. We might add salt and pepper, but that’ll be about it. Try experimenting with different meats, herbs, and vegetables to unlock the unique flavors of rice.

Also as a tip. I’m not the biggest fan of clumpy rice, so I like to use an Italian technique to separate the grains. I like to cook rice for about 2 or 3 minutes on medium-low heat in a tablespoon of vegetable or olive oil. Then boil it. The oil covering the grains stops the individual grains from sticking together. Different brands of rice call for different cooking times, so use the back of the bag or box to tell you how long to cook the rice.
