Lean Beef Chili

Healthy chili

Entirely from-scratch healthy chili. If you can handle heat, spice it up a little. This healthy chili recipe can sit in your slow cooker all day and feel your whole family. Did I mention that this beef chili is also a healthy chili recipe?

1 lb of lean ground beef (93%)
1 cup of black beans
1 cup of navy beans
4 cups of water
4 tomatoes, diced
3 garlic cloves, chopped
¾ tsp of salt
½ tsp of black pepper
½ tsp of paprika
½ tsp of chili powder
½ tsp of cayenne
¼ tsp of garlic powder


  1. Brown the ground beef by cooking in a large frying pan on medium high heat. This takes about 8 minutes.
  2. Drain the fat from the beef using a colander.
  3. Add the beef to the slow cooker with all of the other ingredients.
  4. Cook on low for at least 8 hours.

*If elevated blood pressure is not a primary concern, you can add up to 1/2 additional tsp of salt to the recipe. This would make salt per serving 530mg.
