BBQ Sauce

We’re Southern. We love are BBQ, so why not make a healthy BBQ sauce? It packs all of the flavor of super market and restaurant sauce without all of the calories. Try it with baked chicken. Coat unseasoned chicken with this sauce and you’ll be blown away. It also works great for baked beans

Ingredients

32oz tomato puree
1 small onion, chopped
4 garlic cloves, chopped
¼ cup of water
½ cup vinegar
½ cup of brown sugar
2 tbs of Worcestershire sauce
1 tbs of hot sauce
1 tbs of cocoa powder
1 tbs salt
2 tsp of black pepper
1 tsp of thyme
1 tsp of paprika
½ tsp smoked paprika
½ tsp of garlic
½ tsp of chili powder
½ tsp of cayenne

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a medium sized saucepan.
  2. Simmer for at least 1 hour, preferably 3 or more.
