3 cups water
¾ cup of low-fat milk
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ cup of low-fat cheddar cheese
- In a small pot, bring the water, milk, and salt to a boil.
- Slowly stir the grits, salt, and black pepper into the boiling mixture. Stir continuously and thoroughly until grits are well mixed. Stir the grits for one minute after completely added.
- Cover with a lid, lower the temperature to simmer, and cook for approximately 7 minutes, stirring often.
- Stir in the cheese and serve.
