2 ½ pounds butternut squash
¼ cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons margarine (optional)
½ teaspoon black pepper


  1. Cut the butternut squash in half and seed it.
  2. Place butternut squash in a four or five liter slow cooker with 3 cups of water, black pepper, and brown sugar. Turn slow cooker to low and cook for 8 hours.
  3. When the squash is cooked, place butternut squash in a blender with one cup of the liquid from the slow cooker. Blend until smooth.
  4. Add more liquid from slow cooker, until desired texture is reached. You may have to do this in batches until all butternut squash is blended.
  5. Serve hot.
